A Colorful Weddings Experience

I had the incredible opportunity to be a vendor at my very first wedding vendor expo on March 9, 2025, and what an experience it was! Hosted by Colorful Weddings at the Luminare, this event was designed to uplift BIPOC and minority-owned businesses in the wedding industry, providing a platform for diverse wedding vendors to connect with clients and network with fellow creatives.

The energy in the room was amazing—everyone was so welcoming, the atmosphere was inspiring, and the food was absolutely incredible. It was a space filled with passion, creativity, and a shared goal of making weddings more inclusive and representative of all cultures.

Stepping into the Vendor World

As someone who has spent years capturing events behind the camera, being on the other side as a wedding vendor was a completely different experience. I won’t lie—I was pretty nervous at first! I’ve always stayed away from vendor events (probably because growing up, I tagged along to too many of my older sister’s events and got tired from all of it!). But this time, I decided to give it a shot (with the support of my husband), and I’m so glad I did. Planning this kinda last minute was slightly stressful but I think things turned out nicely.

Major respect to vendors who do this regularly—creating a beautiful booth, showcasing your work, and engaging with potential clients for hours is no small feat! As an introvert, I was grateful this event was just four hours long because my social battery was definitely running low by the end.

Things I chose to do for my table

Everything fit in my wagon (except my white divider).

  • QR Codes - I had QR codes for the giveaway, signs and business cards
  • Pricing Brochure - Best thing ever, I debated on this but it was full transparency for any clients and I didn't have time to have a whole speech with everyone who stopped by so I just provided them with the brochure for them to check out at a later time.
  • Square Business Cards - I've always been a fan of odd size business cards but it looked good with the QR code size too.
  • Foldable Vinyl Business Banner - I wanted something I could use indoors and outdoors
  • Magnet Clip Freebies - these are easily my favorite (and my husband's favorite) items to use at home so I wanted something that would be useful for everyone who came by. I did overbuy these so to my incredible clients, look out for these freebies :)
  • Smaller sized photos - I chose to go for 4x6 and 8x10 so I could have a multitude of images from all the sessions I shot in the past 2 years and I was so glad cause I had so many favorites
  • Photo Album - I chose to create this album as a portfolio presentation instead of a mock up for couples and folks enjoyed looking through them. I don't personally create albums but my gallery does give clients the option to make a photo album at an additional cost if they choose it.
  • Ipad - I did bring this to show off the videos I created BUT technology didn't like me and the videos were not loading the way they did when I tested it the night before so I removed it.

The area I was at did not have a charging port (or it was further from reach and my extension cord was not long enough for it) but thankfully I didn't need it. I did bring my laptop in case along with two sheets of laminated pricing guides, again in case because I wasn't sure what to expect. The table came along with the black tablecloth through the organizers.

Overall, I think I did a pretty decent job with only two weeks of planning and ordering. I did have to rush order everything to get in on time and even then, I had the t-shirts come in late and eventually the package also got lost. I would recommend anyone to give themselves more time so you'd have more time to design (if needed) and to order prints and make sure everything comes in at the quality that you are looking for.

Gratitude & Support

I couldn’t have done this without my incredible support team:

Victoria Vang – My biggest cheerleader, and my #1 fan since the beginning of my artist career. Sharing this moment with her was truly special (and yes, we accidentally twinned!). She is also a graphic designer and artist, you can find her work on her website.

Ericka Vang – The ultimate hype woman! She brought so much energy and even pushed me to go from vendor to vendor to network—a skill I’m still working on! She is also an artist, You can find her work on her website.

Txia Yang - My go-to for everything I create print and social media wise because she knows me so well and her feedback is magic. She has helped me with my logo since the beginning of my more professional journey (before she revamped my logo, I was still an amateur). She reviewed and double checked all my prints before I submitted it to be printed.

My Husband – The real MVP, who not only gave me valuable input (the magnet clips was his idea and everyone loved it) and encouragement but also held down the fort with our kids while I focused on this new experience. Love you and appreciate you always! He is not only an incredibly handy husband (who fixes literally everything) and provides incredible input but he's also an incredibly informative and helpful realtor. Looking Ahead

I also hosted a giveaway as a treat for all the couples that came by my booth, and I can’t wait to share the session with you all once it happens! This event was such an eye-opening and rewarding experience, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes me next.
